Sabotage Weekends
Workout 5-6 days in the week and then save all the guilty pleasures for the weekend??? I have been there and done that!! I have also wondered, why the hell am I not changing my body with all this damn work I put in? The answer is simple math... for most of us at least. Our calories in are equal to or more than our calories we are expending ORRRRRR we are not consuming enough calories and our body is storing EVERYTHING we put in our mouth.
Here is a sample week:
Monday - Eat and Drink 1800 Cals, Burn 1900 Cals = -100
Tuesday - Eat and Drink 1600 Cals, Burn 1800 Cals = -200
Wednesday - Eat and Drink 1700 Cals, Burn 1800 Cals = -100
Thursday - Eat and Drink 1900 Cals, Burn 1900 Cals = 0
Friday - Eat and Drink 2200 Cals, Burn 2000 Cals = +200
Saturday - Eat and Drink 2600 Cals, Burn 1600 Cals = +1000
Sunday - Eat and Drink 2400 Cals, Burn 1500 Cals = +900
So by Friday we are in good shape... we are at a 400 calorie deficit... that is a very slow weight loss... but still good stuff... then we hit Friday and start our weekend life... drinks, meals out, more snacks... we end up moving less and eating more on the weekend so in my sample up there... by the time Sunday wraps up we are actually 1700 calories OVER what we burned... and 3500 Calories = 1 pound... so a couple weekends like this and we are up one pound. This over the course of time ADDS UP!
If you are finding yourself frustrated with where you are or how you are changing shape, my first and very strong suggestion would be to TRACK YOUR FOOD AND DRINK!!! Yes it is a pain in the ass. No I don't want you to do it for the rest of your life. Yes you will measure your food (roughly). Yes, it will be eye opening. Yes it will change your life. There are a ton of apps out there where you can do this... My Fitness Pal is probably the most common. And then we would compare it to what our watch says we burned that day.
If you are serious about your wellness journey this IS something you cannot avoid doing. At least for a month to just gain an understanding about this IN vs. OUT concept. I am happy to help you set this up when you are ready. If you are falling into the under eating category then we can address that too as it is equally detrimental to your wellness and likely STILL not giving you the results you want.
I am an over-eater and also struggle with moderation with things that I really enjoy; chips, candy, sweets, and fried foods, you know the usual... so logging and paying attention to In vs. Out has been a game changer for me. I don't think many of us realize how much we are actually eating, even if the amount is small but the way it is cooked or what it is comprised of is very rich in calories. This goes for drinks too... those calories count the same as the ones you chew. A calorie is a calorie.
This is food for thought... something to consider. Ignoring it, like all things that we don't want to face, will come back to bite us in the ass. I'm here for you if you are ready to take the step! At no extra charge, just make the change.
