Do the same thing, get the same results.

Do the same thing over and over and expect different results???? Isn't it the definition of insanity or something like that?

In this industry (fitness/wellness) we come across A LOT of people who feel frustrated with where they are on the wellness spectrum.  If I had a dollar for every person who told me, "I need to workout, I'm going to reach out to you and try your gym." I would be a lot more comfortable financially.  I personally think people KNOW what they need to do to get healthier, maybe not all the details or specifics, but they know they need to move more and eat better choice foods.  But they don't do it.  It leaves me so so curious/frustrated/amazed that they don't value their own life enough to take action.  And of course that makes me sad.

Our body is a miraculous machine.  Truly awe inspiring.  Think about the stuff it does, how it works. 🤯 It's freakin crazy!  It is so fine and efficient, that it adapts with us as much as it can as we give it challenge after challenge each day.  The work we do, the food we eat, the drank we drank, the habits, the exercise or lack there of, the sleep or lack of sleep we give it... it adjusts to try to keep us functioning.

I want to pass on something for you to think about.  Ask yourself these questions:

  • Am I happy with myself?
  • Do I feel GOOD? Pop out of bed well rested in the morning?  Consistent energy level through the day? Capable of doing all the things you want to do?
  • Are there things I "wish" I could do? Feel better running? A pull-up? Go on a hiking trip? Ski?
  • Do I feel confident in my body?  Do I feel confident in who I am?
If any of these questions are relatable to you then the next question I want you to ask yourself is, what are you doing to make the changes you want to see?

Obviously, this is being read by people who are already coming to the gym... so I will ask you to dive even deeper.  If you have been coming to the gym for an extended amount of time and haven't seen the results you would like to see it is likely because your brilliant body has adjusted to the initial changes you made when you started at the gym.  Perhaps it's time you clean up your nutrition.  Perhaps you need to get more steps a day. Maybe cut down on the alcohol/dessert/empty calories.  There are facts about what our body needs... strength training, cardiovascular training, sleep, food, water.  I am hopeful our Zone 2 training will be the change many of us need to boost our progress, but what on your end... something small, can you do to help the progress along?

These are the questions I leave you with today... reflection is the first step toward self improvement!

Have a great day!!!
