The Conclusion is just the beginning...

Friday we finished up our 6-Week Wellness Challenge... I have a lot of thoughts. The most dominating thought is how very proud I am of the overall group for their dedication and effort to improve their wellness. For those who did not participate here are some of the stats from the challenge, these include me (who played but did not compete).

  1. Average pounds lost = 3.35; Total pounds lost = 53.6
  2. Average Fat lost = 1.8 pounds; Total Fat lost = 29.1 pounds
  3. Average % Body Fat dropped = .76%; Total % Body Fat dropped = 12.1%
  4. Muscle Mass gained... more to come on that below

This is just the start. This is six-weeks. This is a minuscule proportion of your life leading up to this and beyond it... si Dios quiere. I think when we dedicate, what feels like a lot of time, to something we create an expectation of huge results... and that is just not how this works most effectively for this part of our lives. Our wellness is a long haul investment. It will take time and if you stick with it, with aggressive consistency, yet life balance sprinkled in, you WILL get results that will change your life!!!

The picture above is the start of my current journey. You see it is slow, this is actually over the course of 8-months... you know what I started doing in January of 2023? Logging my food and walking more.  You see I didn't get on the scale for 6-months.  When I did I was rewarded with a number I never thought I would ever see again.  The point I am trying to get across is... be patient.  Stick to what is working.  Tweak something a little if you feel like it isn't working.  But the overall message is STAY THE MF'in COURSE!!!!

Lets touch upon the loss of Muscle Mass we saw in the challenge, average lost .4 pounds, total among participants 6.9 pounds.  Seven participants gained a bit of muscle, one didn't change, and eight lost muscle mass. Numbers I am not really happy with since we are focusing on building muscle to improve our metabolism.  However, we were in a very fat burning cycle last go around.  This new cycle will present each of us with the opportunity to CHALLENGE ourselves.  You will not increase your muscle mass unless your muscles are challenged AND you consume enough protein.  I have no control over these two things for you.  You must make these two things happen.

The fat burning will continue if you keep an effort toward the 10k+ steps a day and show up on Cardio days - these are facts.  The logging of the food is so so important because it is the reality of what we are putting into our bodies.  Staying on a budget and managing those calories is key.

If you are reading through this and want to join our accountability club... we'd love to have you.  Reach out to me to get started.

I beg and I plead with all of you to give a shit about what your body is composed of... for the sake of your longevity and livelihood.  Don't wait until something "happens" that forces you to give a shit.  Take preventative measures to stop a crisis before it happens.

By your side in this journey!!!!
