The theme continues...

Jose shows up! |
I had two points I wanted you to think about as the first week of February wraps up. It is part of my never ending, nagging theme... SHOW UP.
First part.... Set an expectation/standard for reasons you can't come to the gym. "I don't feel like it" can't be a reason. "I'm sore" can't be a reason. "I don't have time" can't be a reason. "I don't feel great" can't be a reason. "I'm injured" can't be a reason. These are all excuses, not reasons. We offer a 5am class... don't ever forget that... nothing is going on in your life at 5am. So if you know you are going to have a busy day... plan on the 5am. I don't feel great is different than, I'm sick. If you are full blown sick... that might be a reason to not workout. If you feel meh, nine times out of ten some movement will do you good. If you are injured, I will modify any and every workout for you. An emergency is a reason... just ask yourself is this really an "emergency" or am I looking for a reason to get out of going to the gym. When you discipline yourself to show up almost no matter what, you build a confidence in yourself that you can be relied on. And when you build that confidence in yourself, you build that confidence for the people in your circle to know you will "show up".
If you show up then you likely don't need to read this next paragraph about cherry picking your workouts. What that means is you only come to the workouts you "like" or know you can do well at. The more you don't like a workout you see in our programming, the more important it is that you show up for that workout. Stop avoiding the hard stuff. The hard stuff makes us better. Do whatever you need to convince yourself to show up on those days you don't want to come. Shit, don't look at SugarWOD if you have to.
Kudos to those who got 5 or 6 workouts in this week... you did a thing!!! 👊
