More on strength...

"bone density diminishes on a parallel trajectory to muscle mass, peaking as early as our late 20's before beginning a slow, steady decline.  For women, this decline happens much more quickly once they hit menopause, if they are not on Hormone Replacement Treatment, because estrogen is essential for bone strength - in both men and women. Other risk factors for low bone density include genetics, a history of smoking, long use of corticosterioids (inhalers), low muscle mass, and undernourishment." - Dr. Peter Attia

Being a more mature community, some of this is sitting on our door step right now.  However, ALL of us can benefit from this information.  Here is something profound to think about: The mortality from a hip or femur fracture is staggering once you hit the age of 65... up to 1/3 of people over 65 who fracture their hip are dead within a year.  😳  I just lived this this past year with my father.  Granted he was 93 and lived a wonderful life.  However, he broke his hip mid-May and passed on August 3rd.  Below is a picture of him earlier in the day before he fell.  I didn't keep a picture of him past this because his decline was so rapid and not how I want to remember him.

All this to say, on the days you don't feel like getting to the gym, or lifting weights, you are choosing to put your future at risk. You are choosing immediate comfort over fulfilling longevity and comfort.  Sure one day or two days a month might not make a big difference, but missing more than that in a month is impacting your stockpiling of muscle mass (bone density) for your future.  Sounds dramatic, well I hope you will consider it as just that... it is dramatic how this will impact your future.

On one last note... I want you to think about the last time you tripped or slipped.  Did it take you out?  Did you hit the floor/ground?  If you didn't, it was your muscles/strength that saved you... you lose it, you do not have the same outcome.  If you did hit the ground/floor, were you able to get up?  Did you break anything?  That is because your muscles/strength slowed that fall, your bones endured the fall.  This shit is VERY REAL.

I hope to see your face today!!!
