Show Up
"The sad fact is that our muscle mass begins to decline as early as our thirties. An eighty year-old man will have about 40% less muscle tissue (MASS) than he did at 25 years old... We lose muscle STRENGTH about 2-3 times more quickly than we lose mass. And we lose POWER (strength x speed) 2-3 times faster than we lose strength."
So in a nut shell, if we aren't consistent in showing up... we put ourselves on a roller coaster of gains and losses. Not only does this happen with our body composition, but it also happens with our work capacity. To get the effective "gains" that will benefit you down the road... there HAS to be consistency.
"It takes much less time to lose muscle mass and strength than to gain it. Particularly if we are sedentary." This is not to say a rest day or two isn't a worthwhile investment, however it is to say rest weeks and months are strongly discouraged. Sure, if you were a Games athlete or professional athlete training at the highest level possible, pushing your body to the ultimate test often, you may warrant a rest week or maybe even two. But our level of training does not warrant that. If you feel beat up or not 100%, then scale the weight down, scale the movement, but you still need to show up!
If I could pick one thing over all others... it would be having you come workout CONSISTENTLY. 5-6 days a week... this only sounds like a lot in your brain because you probably haven't done it yet. If you have been doing it... pat yourself on the back you are doing your body GOOD! Keep it up!
I hope to see you more than you know!!!
